My Turmeric Golf R 7.5
I had a few hours spare this morning and couldn't wait to get out early and detail my own car ...
From a distance it wasn't looking too bad, but on closer inspection I could see that it was coated in fine dirt and this was dulling the entire body. The normally glossy black Pretorias showed exactly how much crap was on the wheels!
As usual I started with a non-contact rinse using the pressure washer followed by an application of ValetPro Advanced Poseidon snow foam using the foam lance attachment ...
At this point I gave the wheels a good coating of Bilt Hamber Korrosol which is a fantastic iron decontaminant and helps to safely remove brake dust and embeded iron particles from wheels and paintwork alike. The wheels could then be cleaned using a wheel brush which gives access to the wheel barrels ...
It was then back to the pressure washer for another rinse and then on to the hand wash using ValetPro pH Neutral shampoo .... followed by yet another rinse with the pressure washer! The car could then be carefully dried using a plush Wooly Mammoth microfibre towel.
It was then on to the decontamination of the glass and body, once again using the Bilt Hamber Korrosol ...
Any small remaining tar spots were then removed using Carpro Tar X and then the car was given a final rinse and dry.
I then grabbed the Koch Chemie FSE quick detailer and applied this to the whole car. This effectively clears any water spotting and also provides a glossy coating. The final step was to apply a coat of CarPro Reload sealant which provides a glossy coating that gives up to 6 months protection against road grime and the elements.
It was a lot of hard work and my neighbours must have been thinking 'what the hell is he doing to that car' as I went around it again and again during the detailing process.
I was well pleased with the result ...
I could have easily spent more time on the car but the weather forecast was for heavy rain so I had to call it a day as the grey clouds approached ...
I had literally just finished the final buffing and was packing up my gear when it started to piss down ...
Happy detailing - Dave.
